The Heart of Foster Care was developed by Rachel Weyandt in early 2015, when she was only 16 years old. She grew this organization while it was her platform throughout her reign as Miss Minnesota’s Outstanding Teen 2015 and prior to that Miss Chain of Lakes’ Outstanding Teen. Our family has been involved with foster care since 2009. We have cared for 33 foster children in our home thus far and have adopted two girls through the foster care system. This is where our heart is, and we will continue to foster children until we are called away from this ministry.
We hope this website provides education, support, and insight to current foster/adoption families and those that have an interest in being involved. We generate donations and funds for our “Bags of Hope” Project which helps foster children feel a sense of comfort when newly placed into a foster home.(If interested in donating, click on the Donate tab to find out how) We are daily servants and active learners about foster care and are eager to share what we know through our experiences.
